Botanical Properties

The Atlas cedar, used in this essential oil, is a particular species of cedar tree, which is a genus belonging to the Pinophyta division. This evergreen has closely arranged tufts of grey-green leaves and its branches support ovoid, barrel shaped cones. This majestic conifer can grow to have a thick, long trunk that can reach 40m in height, and can live for over 2000 years.

Origin and history

This tree originated in the Middle East and Northern Africa, where it was considered a sacred tree, and where it now decorates the Lebanese flag. In ancient Egypt the pharaohs used this tree for its medicinal and cosmetic properties, whilst it also played a part in the embalming process. In France, the cedar wedding anniversary marks 46 years of marriage. It will therefore come as no surprise that cedar is often used as a symbol of strength and endurance!

Properties

The biochemical composition of our Atlas cedar essential oil is characterised by its high levels of sesquiterpenes. This gives this oil its ability to act as a truly interesting antihistaminic and antiallergenic.

Indications

Atlas cedar essential oil is traditionally prescribed as a treatment for allergies, hay fever, itchy skin, coughs, and bronchitis. As a decongestant and detoxifier, this oil is perfect for ridding you of unsightly cellulite. Indeed, it activates both blood and lymphatic circulation.

Instructions

Please consult your doctor before taking any treatment or therapy orally.

Oral administration:

Take one drop twice a day of our Atlas cedar essential oil. Mix with a little honey or syrup, or place on a lozenge under the tongue in the case of an allergy or cold.

On the skin:

Mix 2ml of Atlas cedar essential oil with 2ml of lemon zest essential oil and 100ml of organic hazelnut oil: this blend is a great care oil to fight cellulite and drain toxins.

By diffusion:

Diffuse into the atmosphere after blending with lavender or orange: this will help achieve a relaxing and comforting mood within your home.

Energetic values and synergies

Cedar is linked to the coronary chakra, Sahasrara, which is associated with the colour purple and the element of light.

A malfunctioning Sahasrara chakra can cause irritability, intolerance, and impatience. Cedar’s ability to comfort and calm the user is translated by an increase in self-confidence and courage. It will allow for a connection to be created between the energy of the sky and the earth.

In synergy: Sandalwood, Orange, Cade “Connection” blend: Mix 1 drop of organic Atlas cedar oil with 10 drops of musk rose oil, and use to massage the top of the head.
