The shrub has a very decorative evergreen foliage and an ornamental white flower with a lemony scent.
Michelia alba is native to Tibet, to Yunnan, but it has become acclimatised to Europe.
Origin and history
The subtlety of Magnolia essential oil is much used in perfumery for feminine fragrances.
It is therefore much used in cosmetics.
