Botanical Properties

The mandarin orange is a citrus fruit produced by the mandarin tree, which belongs to the Rutaceae family. The leaves of the mandarin tree are hardy, dark green and shiny. Its white flowers carry a distinctive, intoxicating and delicate scent. Its bright orange fruit measures between 5 to 10cm in diameter.

Origin and history

Originally from China, the mandarin orange's name owes its name to the bureaucrat scholars of Imperial China, the Mandarins, who were presented with these delicious fruits as gifts.
Nowadays, it is enjoyed as a 'dessert fruit', but the mandarin tree is also cultivated for its bark, from which its essential oil is extracted. Its bark is also an ingredient much loved by liqueur fans.

Properties

Organic mandarin orange essential oil is an excellent for relieving stress. By virtue of the presence of the ester methyl anthranilate in its biochemical composition, it is able to release a sweet, soft and comforting scent.
Mandarin orange Essential Oil is also:

Indications

Due to its calming properties, organic mandarin orange essential oil is an effective treatment for sleeping disorders, periods of stress, child anxieties, hypersensitivity and depression.
Thanks to its antiseptic properties, it is also effective against winter colds. Its bewitchingly sweet scent will help you drift into a peaceful state of mind.
Additional note: Mandarin orange essential oil is perfect for use in cooking. Use to it subtly embellish your starters (salads, seafood), desserts (mousses, sorbets, creams) and cocktails.

Instructions

Please consult a doctor before taking any treatment or therapy orally.
Oral administration: 2 drops of mandarin orange essential oil, three times a day, with a little honey and syrup, or on a lozenge to settle restlessness and feelings of stress.
On the skin: 4 drop of organic mandarin orange essential oil + 4 drops of organic sesame oil, and apply to the solar plexus to treat insomnia.
By diffusion: If you diffuse organic mandarin orange essential oil in your child's bedroom, it will bring them comfort, quell their fears, prevent nightmares and help them sleep peacefully.

Possible synergies

In energy aromatherapy, mandarin orange essential oil is associated with the heart chakra, or the 'Anahata', the fourth chakra. It is green in colour and its element is air.
Mandarin orange essential oil will root you in the present. It can help quell even the deepest of fears in your heart and soul. It enables release and opens the heart up to compassion.
Possible synergies: Roman chamomile, Ylang ylang.

Flammable. Oral use only under medical advice. Keep out of reach of children. Unadvisable for children under the age of three, pregnant or lactating women. Do not apply to the skin before exposing oneself to the sun. Can be used in cooking. Do not apply neat to the skin.
