Organic Eucalyptus globulus

Organic Eucalyptus globulus

Eucalyptus globulus

Botanical Properties

Eucalyptus globulus, also known as blue gum, is a large tree that belongs to the Myrtaceae family. There are more than 500 species in the Eucalyptus genus. This tree can reach as high as 50m. Its feather-shaped, grey green leaves diffuse an intense, distinctive Eucalyptus perfume.
The bark of the Eucalyptus globulus splits into large strips and its woody fruits are held within a hard shell, measuring approximately 2cm wide.

Origin and history

Eucalyptus plants grow very quickly. Originally from Australia, they have been planted in marshy or tropical areas to drain the soils and therefore reduce the spread of malaria. By virtue of its ability to dry swamps, the Eucalyptus globulus is also often referred to as the 'Fever Tree'.
