Botanical Properties

Fennel is a biannual plant belonging to the Apiaceae family. It can reach up to 2m in height, and at the tips of its long, flute shaped stems are umbrella shaped clusters of yellow flowers. A highly aromatic bulb is found at the base of the plant. Common fennel prefers well drained, sun drenched soils in warm climates.  

Origin and history

Originating around the Mediterranean Basin, the fennel plant was traditionally linked to love and magical rituals. It has also long been cultivated and used for its medicinal properties, more precisely as a carminative, digestion stimulator and galactogenic agent, whilst additionally being used in cooking for is anise-like aroma and taste. Consumed raw or cooked, its leaves, seeds, and bulb are a subtle addition to many dishes, such as those containing fish or grilled meat. It is also used to flavour liqueurs and “aperitif” wines.

Indications

Our organic fennel essential oil is an effective weapon against a plethora of digestion related problems: anorexia, slow digestion, indigestion, colitis, aerophagia, gassiness, nausea, etc. As a galactogenic agent, it is ideal to promote milk production in young mothers. 
Its influence on female hormones allows for a more regular menstrual cycle and will help rebalance women going through their menopause. 

Instructions

Please consult your doctor before taking any treatment or therapy orally. 
Oral administration:
Take 2 drops of organic fennel essential oil twice a day, with a little honey or a lozenge placed under the tongue, to help fight period pain.
On the skin:
Mix 10 drops of organic fennel essential oil with 5ml of organic sweet almond oil, and use this blend to vigorously rub the skin in areas affected by cellulite build up.
By diffusion:
Let fennel essential oil calm and relax both your body and mind by diffusing it in the air around you
