Palmarosa belongs to the extensive Poaceae phylogenetic family of the, which contains over 50 different species. This aromatic herbaceous plant has very long leaves that can sometimes reach over 3m in height, and are clustered into tufts. Its flowers, found in panicles, turn red when they reach maturity. It essential oil is very aromatic and strongly scented.
Origin and history
Palmarosa originated in India, and has since been used in Ayurvedic and Oriental medicine for centuries to help treat skin complaints. In China, palmarosa is considered a Yin type food, as it can calm bodily and spiritual fieriness.

Indications
Palmarosa essential oil is recommended for all skin complaints: acne, eczema, sores, cutaneous fungal infections (or gynaecological, or digestive), and erythema. Thanks to its antibacterial and antiviral properties, it is prescribed against bronchitis, rhino-pharyngitis, and ear infections. As a powerful nervous system regulator, palmarosa essential oil will help one to fight stress and get through periods of depression. To use this essential oil as a moisturiser, put a drop of organic palmarosa essential oil in your day cream: this will stabilise sebum secretion and regulate skin cell renewal. Palmarosa essential oil is suitable for all skin types, as it is very soft and the body tolerates it well.

Oral administration:
Take 1 drop of organic palmarosa essential oil 3 times a day. Mix with some honey or syrup, or put on a lozenge to help fight stress and depression.
On the skin:
Mix 2 drops of organic palmarosa essential oil and 5 drops of organic musk rose oil, and apply to help treat eczema-related complaints.
By diffusion:
When diffused in the atmosphere, palmarosa essential oil will pleasantly fragrance your living rooms, and will simultaneously calm feelings of irritation.
