ORGANIC ROSEMARY CINEOLE
Rosmarinus officinalis
Botanical Properties
Rosemary is a small shrub belonging to the Lamiaceae family. It is often found in the typical Provence landscape, and is an integral part of many a Mediterranean cliché. When farmed, rosemary can reach up to 2m in height. It has evergreen, needle shaped leaves that are green on top and grey underneath. Its flowers grow in clusters, and come out in pale blue or purple colours.
Origin and history
Originating in the Mediterranean basin, rosemary covers the sunny Southern heathlands. Used either dried or fresh as an aromatic cooking herb in cuisines from sunny climes, it is an ingredient in bouquet garnis, marinades, grilled meat dishes, and sauces.
Rosemary cineole is often chosen by bees to make honey. This honey is fragrant, soft, and delicate. All in all, the list of phyto-therapeutic properties of this plant is as long as the amount of time that it has been used throughout history. Consequentially, it is involved in many an old legend.
