Sylvester pine is a conifer whose foliage consists of evergreen needles. It can reach up to 35m in height, and belongs in Pinaceae family. This species of pine enjoys soils made of sand and clay, and can live for over 500 years. Pines possess ovaloid shaped cones, and both male and female reproductive organs are found on the same individual. This species is easily recognisable by its red coloured bark.
