Botanical Properties

Maritime pine is a coniferous tree that has dark green, evergreen needles, and can reach up to 30m in height. It belongs to the Pinaceae family. These pine trees appreciate non calcareous soils that are exposed to sunlight, and in the right conditions can live for over 500 years. An individual pine tree has both male and female reproductive organs which translates to their ovaloid shaped cones and means that they are classified as a “monoecious species”.

Origin and history

Maritime pine is commonly found along the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts. It is found in the Landes de Gascogne area, where this species covers around a million hectares. It is also cultivated in Italy, Morocco, and in Portugal.

Indications

We recommend using our organic maritime pine oil if suffering from a cough, respiratory infection or congestion such as sinusitis, asthma, bronchitis, and catarrh. It is advised against joint and muscle pain, such as rheumatisms, gout, and sciatica. Consequentially, maritime pine essence is widely used in the sporting world.

Instructions

Please consult a doctor before taking any treatment or therapy orally.

Oral administration:

Take 2 drops of organic maritime pine essential oil 2 times a day. Mix with some honey or syrup, or on a lozenge for bronchitis and respiratory problems.

On the skin:

Mix 2 drops of organic maritime pine essential oil with 6 drops of sesame oil, and apply locally to body parts suffering from rheumatisms.

By diffusion:

When diffused, maritime pine essential oil will sanitise your living spaces, and act as a true respiratory antiseptic.
